Željko Šljivančanin was born in Žabljak (Montenegro) in 1967. He finished his primary school there. After having completed Mathematical Grammar School in Belgrade, he graduated from Faculty of Physics, University of Belgrade in 1991, and got his master’s degree and PhD degree from the same faculty in 1996 and 1999, respectively.
The following ten years, he spent abroad on postdoctoral studies at several universities: universities in Aalborg and Aarhus in Denmark, as well as at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne in Switzerland.
He is currently employed as a science advisor at the Institute of Nuclear Sciences “Vinča” in Belgrade and is engaged in the theoretical physics of condensed matter. He has published numerous papers in the most significant international journals covering the field of physics and chemistry.
