Aleksandar Jakovljević

Aleksandar Jakovljević, born in 1992 in Belgrade, is the President of the Organization of Serbian Students Abroad (OSSA). Educated abroad, where he finished B.A. and B.S. at St. Francis College in Finance and Business Management. Subsequently, Aleksandar graduated from Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, Germany as Master of Law and Business. In addition, he is the member of the Diaspora Business Council of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

OSSA gathers Serbian students and young professionals who study and live abroad.  Currently it represents a network of approximately 10.000 members across the globe, organized through 15 local branches in 4 continents in Australia, Asia, Europe and North America. Since the beginning of his involvement in the OSSA in 2012, the organization grew significantly and spearheaded multiple initiatives in the field of student affairs in Serbia. Aleksandar has personally led the team which wrote, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the by-laws for the implementation of the Law on Higher Education, concerning foreign diploma recognition. Major project under his leadership was the creation of the Brochure for Studying Abroad, which provides Serbian students with a comparative analysis of the educational systems of 21 countries in the world. Other activities include leading a team of nearly 100 people on daily basis and creating and implementing various activities both in Serbia and abroad.

Besides student affairs, Aleksandar served as an intern to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia. In 2013, he joined the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the UN in New York during the 68th UN General Assembly and worked at the boutique consulting company in New York, Yoswein NY in 2015
